Inside the water-surrounded city Venice, there were many bridges - big or small, famous or humble, all of which were the organic elements of this amazing city, contributing their shares to make every view of the city memorable. The most picturesque ones were often those along the little quiet water alleys, flanked by colorful ancient structures:
The most romantic or shudder-inducing bridge in Venice must be Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sign), where the condemned prisoners would have their last glimpses of the world before they die, being led via this little bridge from their prisons in the Doge's Palace to their execution.

But, we could only look from certain distance of that bridge; in order to walk on an iconic Venetian bridge at any time, one only need to go to another marble bridge, Rialto, which was just as famous as the lion in Piazza San Marco, and was beautiful to looked at from every angle, at any time of the day.

The other famous bridge in Venice was a wooden bridge - Ponte Ponte dell'Accademia, which, against the grand Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, formed another iconic image of Venice:
Another beautiful stone bridge was Ponte Scalzi, which was a slender and more streamlined version of Ponte di Rialto, and commanded if not the obvious excitement of Rialto, no less admiration if one stopped to inspect it closely and obtained its due respect in no time:

There were some amazing modern bridges in this very ancient city; because they lay in the outskirt of the city, they didn't disturb the uniformity of the city core and added some unexpected excitements to the fringes, such as the translucent Ponte della Costituzione connecting Stazione Venezia Santa Lucia to the rest of the city, and the futuristic looking, whale-bone shaped bridge carrying rail tracks connecting Stazioni Tronchetto and Santa Lucia:
