A Glimspse of Salesforce Transbay Center in San Francisco
Several weeks ago, the multiple-billion dollars Salesforce Transbay Center in San Francisco opened with great fanfare. On August 25, I took a transbay bus and caught a glimpse of the wonderful building, and the rooftop garden, before two cracks on steel beams forced a hopefully temporary closure two days ago.
The most dominating part of the complex was the slick and phallic Salesforce Tower, which was actually not part of the terminal, but did provide an interesting contrast to the delicate, veiled exterior of the horizontal Transbay Center.
Our bus came to the center via an exclusive bus bridge, at an extremely low speed.
Once entered the building, we had another view of the lattice façade from inside. Intriguing.
There was a certain "public art" inside the terminal building, such as the LCD display, and the tower itself.
The best part of the complex was the rooftop public space - gardens, walkway, theater, etc.
What a shame that two cracks of the supporting steel beams at SF Transbay Transit Center forced its closure. Hopefully, it would be deemed safe soon. But, could we ever trust it? Just as the troubled San Francisco Bay Bridge.

Featured Painting - July Meteors
The title of this painting, July Meteors, originates from a Chinese phrase, 七月流火, which means that in July, when stars move westbound, cooler weather arrives soon; I have always been drawn to the mystic and somewhat fatalistic image of this concise yet profound phrase, without much understanding.
Right before the Fourth of July this year, suddenly there was some unexpected disturbances took place in my life and I was mostly assailed by shock and dismay, out of all things, and soon I was enveloped in a chill, much colder than the already too cool San Francisco summer.
It was the realization of abrupt and decisive change caused me much alarm and disquietness and then I suddenly understand the meaning of that phrase, and the helplessness sedimented through thousands years of valiant and often futile struggle, and composed this rather evocative abstract piece, to channel my compound feelings.

Glittering Exhibition - "Truth and Beauty: The Pre-Raphaelites and the Old Masters" at Legion of Honor
Truth and Beauty: The Pre-Raphaelites and the Old Masters is the first major international exhibition to assemble works by England’s nineteenth-century Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood with the medieval and Renaissance masterpieces that inspired them. Important loans of paintings, works on paper, and decorative arts from international collections, as well as works drawn from the collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, demonstrate the Pre-Raphaelites’ fascination with Italian masters, including Sandro Botticelli, Raphael, and Paolo Veronese, as well as northern Renaissance painters such as Jan van Eyck and Hans Memling.Though weary of the stilted beauty of the Pre-Raphaelites paintings, I came away enchanted by this well-curated, and sparkling exhibition, which juxtaposed the Pre-Raphaelites and the Old Masters, relating the connections between these two groups, in the timeline of the artistic development of the Pre-Raphaelites. The amazing achievements of the Old Masters were self-evidence; while the Pre-Raphaelites impressed with their virtuosity and romantic beauty, however mannered they could be.
