My Featured Painting - New Century's Shangri-La

My recently painting New Century's Shangri-La is rather visually intriguing — a colorful and orderly semi-abstract landscape/cityscape, serene and paradisal, being menaced by heavy dark storms swirling above, which threaten to crush down at any moment and bring havoc to the orderly world below. The ironic title unfortunately aptly described the state of our world, if not yet today, soon tomorrow.

Amanita Muscaria Mushrooms in Urban Apartments Garden

Recent pouring rain storms in San Francisco Bay Area, though inconvenient for many commuters, were more than welcome by the residents, because California had been suffering persistent drought for years. Further more, the moist weather brought out many unexpected colorful mushrooms in some unexpected places, such as this cluster of Amanita muscaria I saw near an apartment compound of University of California, Berkeley.

They might be poisonous, but they were wonderful to behold.

Sunshine Between the Storms

California just experience a major storm, which brought some relief to the long drought, and inconvenience to the residence.

During the dry patches between storms, I captured many beautiful sights - sunrise, sunset or cleansed landscape.

Last weekend, I did more drawings to better utilize my time, while waiting for my painting ideas to mature and my paints to dry.

I was mostly interested in creating certain atmosphere than trying to present a detailed snapshot of scenery.

Recent storm in San Francisco Bay Area has created much difficulties for the residents, particularly those who had lost power due to recording-setting numerous thunder lightening.
